GLAZE
1/2 cup butter melted
2 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
5 to 7 tablespoons evaporated milk.
Combine lukewarm water and yeast in large mixer bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes.
Heat milk and let cool to lukewarm.
Add milk, sugar, salt, eggs, butter and 2 cups of flour to yeast mixture. Mix for 2 minutes at medium speed. Add remaining 3 cups of flour.
Form dough into a ball, cover and let rise 2 hours.
Roll dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut out doughnuts. Fry in hot oil turning once, until golden brown.
Roll in glaze. (or other coating of your choice)
How much oil should I use? I’ve never made doughnuts before.
Do you have any kind of deep fryer? You can use a skillet but the oil needs to be at least three inches deep. I don’t like to deep fry on the stove because of the danger of fire. I use one of the little inexpensive “Fry Daddys” that I got at Walmart.
Ok 3 inches, thank you, I don’t have a deep fryer, I’ll be extra careful.
Glad your doughnuts turned out well and everyone liked them. I just took a bag of them out of the freezer and they are even better now.
I’m going to try making this recipe this weekend! Thank you!
They are really good! I made a large batch and froze them.
I have never tried doughnuts. After seeing yours, I really want to give it a go, standing by for recipe. You’re busy, just when you get a chance😃🍩
Today might be the day!! It’s going to be too cold to work outdoors much, so maybe I will get caught up on my posting. I have a couple of recipes to share. 😋 😋
