The first iris of the season is always exciting. This one is a quaint old heirloom that is not as showy as the tall bearded varieties, but the color is still most welcome in the early spring garden.

Aren’t the petals so elegant, lovely lavender color.
Yes! I do love the color and it is extremely fragrant! You can smell it from several feet away. I am going to try to spread it around a bit so it can be enjoyed more.
