THIS AND THAT IN THE GARDEN
My eggplant is blooming. Such pretty flowers!

GARDENING A YARD AT A TIME
Late summer/early autumn cleanup is beginning in the garden. I like to get an early start on it while the weeds and spent foliage are still green and make great material for the compost pile. I will be assured of having lots of yummy, black loamy compost for next years plantings.
Looking at the task as a whole is rather intimidating to say the least!
I prefer to use the “eating an elephant” approach and tackle it one yard (three feet) at a time.
It is going to require some deep thought, but at the top of the list is the dehydrating of some really rambunctious basil.

Cosmos are the star in the late-summer garden.

GARDEN SURPRISES
UPDATE ON MAX
Max is looking more like he has his big-boy pants on now.
I’m thinking he is close to getting his full growth.
(I’m betting that fence is sure hoping so!)

COFFEE TIME
FOTD (Flower of the day) Coleus!

10:00 AM July 29, 2026…time for mid-morning coffee break!
It’s a gorgeous late-summer morning. The nice inch and a half rainfall we got yesterday cleared the air and left us with perfect temperatures. It is now 68 degrees, with low humidity and a slight breeze.
