Gardening Season 2025 is swiftly coming to an end!
The leaves on the woodland trees are changing to colors of red and gold, and are being swept along on late summer breezes!
A few brave flowers and veggies are hanging in there, bracing themselves for the first killing frost, which will more than likely happen in the next couple of weeks!
Bring on Winter!!!
Earlier in the year, I planted a second crop of cucumbers since my first ones had pretty much stopped producing. When I planted them, I neglected to put my packet of seeds away, and left them laying on the shelf in my greenhouse overnight. The next morning they were all gone with only fragments of the seed hulls laying around.
A couple of weeks later, I found out where my seeds went. Tiny cucumber plants started emerging out from under the bottom shelving in the greenhouse!!
The second sowing did rather poorly due to the dry weather and an onslaught of beetles, but the ones “planted” by the critters are doing great!!
Veggies are holding their own in spite of the unstable weather we have had during this growing season. Peppers are just starting to look promising and the pole beans and tomatoes are still hanging in there.

This has been a very unusual and challenging year for flower gardening. Some plants bloomed early, and did better than expected. Others are just now (mid-September) coming into their own. This collage is an assortment of things found in the garden today (09-19-2025)

In the middle of a discussion with friends just now, about growing peanuts, and it seems like several have given them a try at least once, with varying degrees of success. I had to try it at least one time to see what they looked like growing and to see if I could. (A typical Vero characteristic)
Except for the vase and cording, all material is from God’s Garden. Perfect harmony.
It took a while for them to get started, but the dahlias are doing great now.
So many beautiful colors from the packet of seed that I planted early in the year.
I hope a lot of them survive the winter in the ground.
I think if I had to pick a favorite from all the flowers I have grown over the years, it would be the “Stargazer Lily”!
