I come in peace and mean you no harm. I raid the nests of mice, rats, wasps, grubs, hornets and other unwanted pests.
If you see me digging or scratching around on your property, I’ve most likely found pests and am getting rid of them for you!
Please don’t harm me. I will move on soon, once I’ve eaten all of your pests.
Just give them a break…a wide berth…and leave ’em be…and have a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
I will give them more than a wide berth! I remember as a kid, a guy having a pet skunk. He said it’s scent gland(s) had been removed so one didn’t have to worry about it spraying. He was a taxidermist so I’m not sure how he acquired the skunk, whether he wanted one initially or if some hunter came across it. It wouldn’t be my first choice for a pet.
Actually, I hear they make wonderful pets…they are quite ‘catlike’…
Well, there you go! Get you a skunk instead of a tuxedo cat!
Sigh, you can’t own one, either…😢
It is currently legal to own domesticated skunks in only 17 states: Alabama, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
