I see that I get emails saying that I need to “approve” comments as they come, and also emails telling me there is a comment.
I don’t need to know about each one, nor do I feel the need to approve them as if I were afraid of what they might say.
I’m wondering if there might be a setting to turn those features off. I haven’t found it yet.
You only have to “approve” the first comment from a new poster. That is for your own good to make sure it is something/someone you want to allow.
If you don’t want notifications to your emails then turn them off.
Cos, I got Brian to set mine settings, so that I do not have to approve comments.
Yes Cosmic, it is under settings/Discussion on your dashboard. Like a lot of other things with wordpress, it is set that way to keep out bots. I haven’t found them to be a problem here on comments on the individual sites, so either I can turn that off or you can, let me know if you’d like me to do it.
I’ve been turning them off when I remember to, if they aren’t needed they are a pain.
What the bots tell you is about dating, porn sites, cheap knockoff merchandise, and online casinos 😉
I think I found the settings, and the ‘approve’ and ’email all comments’ should be off, as well as the nag about the paid plugins. If I meet any bots, I’ll tell them not to bother. I’ve already got the porn sites bookmarked.
I don’t suppose anything in the ‘site’ settings affects the civatar “home” page. I’d like to fix the gray-background/faded font problem. Contrast is the goal.
It has occurred to me that the dashboard has far too many setting options the purpose/effect of which is unclear. Those having to do with plugins/addons that are not being used, should go away. So should the prompt to enter a ‘cred’ or other “key” for features unwanted.
The function to download media (pictures) works, but I see nothing to display them on a page for others to see.
I’ve noticed when going to the dashboard I have to re-enter my password, though I’m already logged in.
I’m not sure if everyone prefers a simple, nondistracting interface, but if such a utopian concept could be configured, I would enjoy this more.
If there were a list of blog titles (everyone’s) that would appear to be browsed, that would be nice.
Just thought I’d mention it.
