Sunday was a bitterly cold and blustery day with snow later in the afternoon. Thankfully not much was expected, but the temps have been a shock to the system after the last several days of 60-70 degree weather.

Thankfully after Wednesday, things are looking way, way up and I hope it will soon be safe to get outside and get some garden work done. Just in time with spring making it’s arrival this week.

Posting something a bit different today. I have heard this song a lot and I don’t know if I have posted it before, but I do love the “oldies music” feel of the song.

Another Monday, another day for some music to get one motivated. Today I tried to think of something different for Music Monday, so I went and googled songs that are popular right now. This song was listed in the top 5. I listened to a few others that were also listed as being current hits on the charts, but I felt this one was a bit different. I liked that it didn’t sound like every other pop song out there at the moment, and yet parts of it felt nostalgic but also very current. I chose this live version from the Graham Norton show showing just how well it resonates on its own.

For today’s Music Monday I chose a song I hadn’t heard of before until the other day when I went looking for it after hearing just a snippet of the song. For something different, I am going to post the song by the original group and then post a second video done by another group of the same song. Both have different feels or approaches to the song. Which version is your favorite?

And the second version….

Here we are, the last Monday of the month, thankful to see February almost over with and the time change coming up soon along with spring just around the corner.

I’m not much of a head banger, but for today’s Music Monday, I chose this remake of the popular Cranberries hit done by Bad Wolves. For a remake, it’s pretty good and definitely gets one rocking out.

Lemon Cheese Bars

1 pkg. lemon cake mix (can use yellow or orange as well)

1 tsp. lemon juice

1/2 cup vegetable oil (I imagine you could use butter as well)

1/2 cup sugar

2 eggs

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese

Mix cake mix, 1 egg, and oil until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup. Pat remaining mixture into an ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Beat cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, and 1 egg until light and smooth. Spread over baked layer. Sprinkle with reserved crumbs. Bake 15 minutes longer. Cool and cut into bars.

Have you been following the Peace Walk? If you haven’t heard about it, it is a group of Monks who walked from Texas to Washington D.C. promoting Peace and non-violence. It is both heartwarming and depressing.

A beautiful message shown thru their actions and words. A heartbreaking realization of how just utterly broken we are as a country. I won’t discuss politics here, because that solves nothing and despite what many people think and say, we as a country have been broken for a long time, years, decades in fact. Finger pointing solves nothing, shifting blame serves no purpose, and no one person or group is to blame, but all of us as a whole have to take responsibility for our own words and actions. Social media right up there with it for it’s bullying, childishness, and its subterfuge of anonymity.

So many good songs out there about peace and understanding, and it was hard to choose just one song for today’s Music Monday. I finally settle on this song because so many times one has to shake their head at the world’s craziness and ask what’s going on?

With Valentine’s Day at the end of the week, I went looking for a song for the day and came across this sweet little tune by Willie Nelson. Makes one feel a little melancholy listening to it and wanting to snack on a pack of candy hearts. Have a favorite tune for Valentine’s Day or any day for that matter? As far as the accuracy on the little rodent, who knows? Typically, one just has to be prepared for all kinds of weather, and hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

I thought this song was appropriate for today’s Music Monday. It’s been ages since I have heard the original by old Blue Eyes, but I heard a snippet of it in a video short and went searching for the tune. I came across this remake and even though I don’t know if the guy is as good as Frank, it was the total ensemble of the brass and instruments that for me felt like absolute perfection. Have a listen and decide for yourself.

Have a good week bloggers!

Here we are with the last week of January and I am thrilled to see the month coming to an end. Even though it’s been a mild winter for the most part, I am tired of the cold, the snow, the wind, and pretty much all that winter and January brings with it.

So, I thought this song was appropriate for today’s Music Monday. It’s an oldie, but one I haven’t heard before. Thankfully it is upbeat and hopefully puts one in a better mood!
