Goodness the time is flying by. Already into the 2nd week of October, at this rate I will be Christmas shopping before I get all of my outdoor projects completed. I’m still waiting on the roofers who dropped off all of the shingles and supplies last week, and I haven’t heard a peep from them since. With these chilly mornings, I don’t expect them to get here too early, but you would think by the afternoon they would show up to do something.
It’s been a while since I posted some country music for Music Monday, so I picked this song by Dwight Yoakam. It’s been ages since I have heard anything about him, but I am guessing he is still concentrating more on his acting career and not his music so much. Pity, he really has such a talent for it.

Well, here we are, the last Monday of the month as well as the last day for September. It won’t be long until we will be complaining about the colder weather and thinking of the holidays.
I came across this singer a while ago and decided to post him for today’s music Monday. I can’t at the moment think of the group he sings with, but I enjoy his voice on its own. You will be shocked by it when you see his “baby face”, as he is a fairly young singer.

Here we are again, another Monday rolling around. I’ve got a list of things to do today, but I’m not that enthused to do much. I’ve got some hummingbird nectar cooling on the stove and I will be refilling the feeders when it cools down. Not much longer and they will be done migrating thru my area. I imagine a great deal of them went thru before we hit this cold snap yesterday. Fall definitely proved it’s point with its arrival.
I have one box to pack up from cleaning out the dining room of unwanted or unnecessary items and then I will have 19 boxes of glassware, cookware, Tupperware, knickknacks, etc. to go. I also have another 10 boxes of books as well as two other boxes of misc. I have two more rooms to go, and the linen closets and I can call it quits.
In typical Monday fashion, as I was writing this blog, the phone rang, by the time I got back to the computer it was updating. So, while it updated, I went ahead and filled the hummingbird feeders, stopped to talk to the mailman who delivered a package (2 new peony roots to plant at the cemetery), and I put on a pot of chicken and noodles since my brother called to say he would be over today to help with a couple of projects before winter.
I’m tired already and it is barely 11 a.m.
I guess it’s time to put some music on and try and get inspired and give myself a pep talk about getting some pep.
I don’t think I have posted this song before, so I hope it is new for you, if not, I hope you still enjoy it. Have a favorite tune? Feel free to post it for today’s Music Monday.
I chose the above meme as it seems to indicate how today, and specifically this week is going to be going. I may need a search and rescue team to come look for me if I get buried too deep in all that needs to be done.
Today I am hoping to get all of the insurance stuff taken care of, as well as get a little yard work done but that will depend on a few other things. Sometime this week the roofers are supposed to show up and redo the roofs on the garage and shed that I didn’t get done last year. Hopefully they come in the next couple of days as rain is supposed to move in midweek with rain possible for several days. I am also thinking of replacing some siding on the garage, and if that happens then it will also mean I will have to add painting on the list of things to do.
It seems to happen every fall, a mad rush to get things done before it gets too cold, and winter moves in. I know it’s not technically fall yet, but I feel like winter is going to show up early this year.
The song I chose for today’s Music Monday is by Adele, and it’s hard to believe this song came out well over 10 years ago. Still a great tune to get one humming along to start their week with. Have a favorite tune? Feel free to post it for today’s Music Monday.
I know I am a bit late with today’s Music Monday post. I thought I would blog on something different for a change earlier today, but since it’s a bit slow on here I will go ahead and post a song for Music Monday as well.
This song came out quite a while ago, and originally was done by Bette Midler, but I like this duet version she does with Wynonna.

I’m back at it again, trying to get things gone through and I’m finally done with the kitchen. Today’ it is going to be the dining room which has more cupboards as well as the China hutch. That is unless I talk myself out of it and hold off on it for another day.
My biggest problem is deciding what to do with stuff. Even if I decide I don’t want it, then what to do with it? I’m not interested in having any garage sales, so that most likely means lugging it to the Goodwill or some other charity shop that will take the items.
But there are some items that have sentimental value, and I struggle with the idea of whether to keep it, give it to another family member or just putting it back in the drawer for now. Especially when it comes to mom’s jewelry. Now mom didn’t have a lot of it, but still there are items such as her wedding ring, engagement ring, and a couple of other rings she wore from time to time. Earrings, bracelets, watches, necklaces, etc, along with dad’s tie tacks, belt buckles, and other assorted little bits one finds in a jewelry chest.
I am not even sure if any of her rings will fit, I haven’t tried any of them on, it just feels a bit weird to do so. To tell the truth, I am sure they will have to be resized because her hands changed over the years. Even though she was a petite woman, her hands were ravaged from arthritis, and she had swollen knuckles and joints that made it hard to get her rings off and on. I’m not sure what size they are, and heck, I am not even sure what size ring I wear now.
It had me wondering then if shoe sizes and ring sizes are the same for a lot of people? My hands haven’t really changed much but my feet have. So if they were ever the same size at one time, they certainly aren’t now. Which then got me to wondering what about wrist sizes? Can you have big fingers and small wrists, or big wrists and small fingers and well then of course, Google came in.
Looking at all sorts of charts, I find it amazing that wrist sizes are as big as they are. Just looking at my wrist, it’s hard to believe that a small wrist is 6 inches. That is half a foot! It doesn’t seem possible, but yet that is considered a small wrist size.
So now my curiosity is peaked. Ring size, wrist size, shoe size… how close are they to each other and are they similar or wildly different? I look at my hands and I know I have my father’s hands. Thankfully arthritis has not affected my joints, or at least not yet to where it is visible. Time will tell on that front, and I know that most likely for now, the jewelry will all go back in the drawer at least for a little while. But I know before the end of the day, curiosity will have the better of me and I will be checking out my ring size, getting a string to measure my wrist and see if they are even close. If they aren’t, I am going to feel like such a Neanderthal.
Don’t even get me started on ankle bracelets. So, bloggers do you know the size of it all? Have you noticed changes in your hands, wrists, feet, etc? Are they similar? Or are you fearing you could be a descendent of Bigfoot too?
The things I think of,… anything to get out of tackling those dishes.
Even though it is Labor Day, it’s just going to be another regular day here. No big plans of celebrating, but if anyone should happen to break out the grill, I will take a cheeseburger please, with some ketchup.
Whatever you have planned for the day, I hope it is a good one!
For today’s Music Monday, I chose this song, even though it doesn’t have a work or labor type theme, it is an uplifting song and that is what music does. It evokes a feeling in the listener and can be a positive force.

That is how I feel today after trying to clean out and organize all of the Tupperware, Rubbermaid, and other brands of plastic containers. I have tried to wrangle all of those containers into two cabinets, and after trying to put up a container the other day and have lids topple out haphazardly, I decided to bite the bullet and try and tackle that project.
I’m sort of done, but sort of not. All of the containers were removed from the cabinets, washed, dried, stacked, and then it became a puzzle on how to put it all back together. I threw away two bags of cool whip bowls, salad bowls, all of those little containers you get things in like soft spread margarine, deli stuff, and ice cream buckets. And it still was a struggle to get things as orderly as I wanted it to be.
Add to the problem is I have Tupperware, and I inherited mom’s Tupperware, and it’s hard to decide what to keep, what to toss, what to give away. I started off well on the project determined to be ruthless. Afterall, who need FOUR cake carriers? There is a fifth one floating around here somewhere that is a large rectangular shaped carrier, where it’s at, I have no idea. That was another problem that I came across, that things were stuffed in odd places. I have dealt with that problem a lot for a while. Mom with her dementia never put anything back in the same place. So, I know I will be finding more Tupperware in a closet, or another cabinet, or someplace even stranger when I get to cleaning out more cabinets and closets.
Purge, I keep telling myself, purge it now while you are handling it and I had planned on doing that….but then I stopped for lunch while the containers were draining and drying and then when I went to decide, I really couldn’t. Someone might want that, I might use that, that could really come in handy when there is a large crowd, etc., etc.
I even took the time to google Tupperware to see about how to get replacement lids that were cracked or broken. A phone call and an e-mail later and I have three lids, and a container ready to be boxed up and sent to their offices to see if they can be replaced. I was told it could take up to 6 weeks to receive the parts,…if they determined it fell under their guaranteed stuff. I will let you know how that pans out.
Three relish trays, one big, one possibly a meat tray? I don’t know, it is flat and has a big round lid that would make it hard to put in much in the way of bigger veggies. A small tray less than twelve inches across that I am assuming is for things like olives and pickles. And of course, since they are all different that makes it harder to decide, which to keep?
Jell-O molds, I came across two. I have never used them for Jell-O, one of them I have used a time or two for an ice mold for punch. Which now I tell myself, maybe I should try making a Jell-O mold. And then there is the Rubbermaid, some of it newer that I only use once or twice a year during the holidays to store cookies. Does that justify keeping them? Of course it does, we are talking cookies folks. Stale cookies are an affront to all things American, etc., etc.
You see my problem. I can find an excuse for anything. I don’t know what kind of hold this stuff has over me, but it does. I have brand new stuff never even used. Dusty blue square plates, matching cups and glasses, perfect for packing for a picnic. I don’t go on picnics, I don’t like picnics, I don’t like fighting the ants and flies for my meal.
Stackable pie keeper for transporting multiple pies. Am I seriously going to get that ambitious to make a bunch of pies to take somewhere? Maybe in the past for potlucks and trips down to Grandma’s, but times change, things change, and nobody really gets together every Sunday with family for those huge dinners any more.
I’m thinking at Christmas I will pull out a lot of it and set it out to see if anyone wants to take any of it. Maybe I will even throw in some cookies to entice them. Big plans, big ideas for my excessive Tupperware and Rubbermaid horde. I need to downsize. And yet, I am already telling myself that if Tupperware doesn’t honor the guarantee on that rectangular container and lid that is cracked, I will have to buy a new one.
I’m tired. I haven’t even started on the pots and pans. New pans, never used, old pans that have sentimental value, some pans missing a handle, but they are Saladmaster pans, and they should have a lifetime guarantee. I just have to now go google them and see how I go about getting the replacement parts for them and if they are covered.
Morning Bloggers, another start to a new week. It’s hard to believe it’s almost the end of August. Schools have started back here, most county fairs are over, and it seems like there has been an increase at the bird feeders which makes me feel like an early fall is at hand. Unfortunately, this week is going to continue to be a scorcher with another day of 100 degrees predicted. Don’t think I will get much of anything done outside except for maybe a bit of watering.
For today’s Music Monday I chose this as much for the video as the song. I can’t even imagine the amount of work and hours of prep that went into this dancing endeavor. Not quite what one thinks of for dance videos, but it is so creative.
