I can’t get the whole picture to show, but you can see there are roses now, the deer were eating the buds, but Irish spring soap and marigolds seem to be keeping the deer away.

So the soap bars seem to be working? That will be wonderful if it does. Years ago when I lived in town, my neighbor tied it to a low-growing shrub to keep a dog from wetting on it. He ate the soap!!!!ππ€£

This is such a gorgeous rose! I’m happy you are finally getting to see blooms.
Thank you! I’m new to them, my grandmother said they weren’t practical where we lived in Maine, they do require a lot of attention. She had a lot of peonies. I am growing fond of them though.
Peonies were something everyone had when I was growing up. Most gardens had one rose bush…a dark burgundy one that only bloomed once a year.
Probably why I have a special fondness for peonies, lovely ties to the past πΈππ
